[vc_row enable_hue_rotation=”no” enable_text_marquee=”no”][vc_column][vc_column_text]The village of Sant Francesc has a parish church of great beauty, located next to the Ses Salines ponds, which were already in use in Phoenician times and are still active today. This small church, almost a hermitage, was built to offer religious services to the salt workers without them having to walk long distances.<\/p>\n

This village also has another small church, dedicated to Sant Carles, in the place known as Sa Revista. It also has two coastal defence towers, Sa Sal Rossa and Ses Portes, watchtowers from which the inhabitants of Sant Josep were protected from pirate attacks. Among the places of interest in the municipality are the picturesque salt port of Sa Canal and the archaeological site of Sa Caleta, probably the site of the first Phoenician city of the Pitiusas (founded in the 7th century B.C.), now listed among the assets of Eivissa, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1999.<\/p>\n

From the surrounding area you can take walks along the ponds and reach the beaches of Es Cavallet, Ses Salines or Es Cap des Falc\u00f3, where you can enjoy spectacular sunsets.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
