Platges de Comte – Torre Rovira

Today we’re proposing a walk along one of the most beautiful coastal areas of the island of Ibiza, and we could even say of the Mediterranean. An easy walk of about one hour both ways, from Platges de Compte beach (Cala Conta) and the watchtower Torre d’en Rovira. No big uphill stretches, allowing you to fully enjoy this masterpiece of nature. A true nature gift from the island of Ibiza.

Platges de Comte

We start from the beach of Platges Comte specifically from Ses Roques restaurant, located next to the quay. When you get there you’ll immediately understand why this is a unique viewpoint. A mix of blue and turquoise waters, rocky and wild coastal stretch, having part of the Nature Reserve islands, the “Illots de Ponent”, in the background, giving the horizon its own life. Beautiful evenings, simply amazing to watch the sunset.

Casetas de pescadores

The route is simple, from the starting point you just have to go along the coast heading north, leaving the islands of S’illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera to your left. An authentic walk in full nature: just country and sea. Stunning, as we mentioned, is the view of the islands of S’illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera, right in front of us during the whole route. On one side the sea and those characteristic and typical fishermen’s huts. And on the other side, the very Ibicenco pine and juniper forests with those intense green tones. Mere nature.

Torre d’en Rovira. Al fondo la punta de Cap Nonó

Going along the coast we’ll reach the point of Sa Torre, where we’ll be able to spot the point of Cap Nonó and the coast of Sant Antoni in the background. And right there we’ll find the watchtower Torre d’en Rovira. It dates from 1763, and like other towers scattered along the Pitiusan coast, it was used as a watch and defense tower (it even had artillery, such as canons), in this case for the Bay of Sant Antoni, which is just a few kilometers away. It’s positioned at an angle that allowed it to easily communicate with the watchtower of Es Savinar (in Cala d’ Hort) and with the church of Sant Antoni de Portmany.

This little walk is really pleasant at any time of the day, but we can’t help recommending it for an evening walk as the perfect time to do it. The sunset from any part of the route is breathtaking. If you want to enjoy the sunset with a bit more of atmosphere, watch it from the beach of Platges de Comte, or, if you prefer something more quiet and intimate, choose any spot in any part of the walking route.
