M\u00f6glich machen dies einzigartige Orte wie Sa Caleta oder Pflanzen, die f\u00fcr das marine \u00d6kosystem so wichtig sind. Hierzu z\u00e4hlt vor allem das Neptungras (Posidonia oceanica), das an den K\u00fcsten Ibizas weit verbreitet ist. Aus diesem Naturreichtum stechen an den K\u00fcsten der Pityusen vor allem die riesigen Neptungraswiesen hervor, die sich im ganzen Meeresgebiet der beiden Inseln ausbreiten. Auf den ersten Blick k\u00f6nnte man meinen, dass es nur eine weitere Pflanze unter vielen anderen sei, doch ist sie ein ma\u00dfgeblicher Teil des \u00d6kosystems des Mittelmeers. Sie macht das Leben vieler anderer Lebewesen erst m\u00f6glich.<\/p>\n<p>Das erste, was man \u00fcber das Neptungras wissen sollte ist, dass es sich hierbei nicht um eine gew\u00f6hnliche Algenart handelt, denn es besitzt Wurzeln, einen St\u00e4ngel und Bl\u00e4tter. Das Gras bl\u00fcht im Herbst und tr\u00e4gt im Fr\u00fchling seine Fr\u00fcchte, au\u00dferdem betreibt es Fotosynthese, weshalb man es zu den Unterwasserpflanzen z\u00e4hlt. Die Fotosynthese sorgt daf\u00fcr, dass das Wasser kontinuierlich mit Sauerstoff versorgt wird, wodurch es besonders sauber ist, und dass bestimmte Arten hier ihren Lebensraum finden. Man k\u00f6nnte sagen, dass das Neptungras die gleiche Funktion aus\u00fcbt wie der tropische Regenwald, weil es einer gro\u00dfen Artenvielfalt Raum zum Leben gibt und die gr\u00fcne Lunge f\u00fcr die Flora und Fauna ist. So sorgt es nicht nur f\u00fcr ein komplexes \u00d6kosystem, sondern ist auch ein Bioindikator f\u00fcr die Wasserqualit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n<p>Doch nicht nur unter Wasser wird man sich seiner Bedeutung bewusst, denn das Neptungras hat auch Einfluss auf die K\u00fcstenlandschaft. Ohne diese Pflanze w\u00e4ren die K\u00fcsten der Pityusen l\u00e4ngst nicht so sch\u00f6n. Normalerweise w\u00e4chst das Neptungras in K\u00fcstenn\u00e4he im flachen Wasser und auf sandigem Untergrund. Dies reinigt zum einen das Wasser von Sendimenten und zum anderen festigt die Pflanze den Meeresgrund, sie \u00fcbt also wie die Korallenriffe eine Schutzfunktion aus. Wenn ihre Bl\u00e4tter verwelken, schwemmt der Wellengang sie an das Meeresufer, wodurch der Strand vor Erosion gesch\u00fctzt wird und sich andere nahegelegene \u00d6kosysteme wie D\u00fcnen, Sadebaum- oder Pinienw\u00e4lder entfalten k\u00f6nnen. Aus diesem Grund kann man also sagen, dass das Neptungras die Lebensgrundlage f\u00fcr die weiteren \u00d6kosysteme der pityusischen K\u00fcsten ist, aber gleichzeitig auch eine sch\u00fctzende und reinigende Funktion hat, dank derer wir uns an den traumhaften Str\u00e4nden von Ibiza und Formentera erfreuen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p>Fr\u00fcher kannten die Inselbewohner noch nicht alle guten Eigenschaften dieser Meerespflanze, die heutzutage unerl\u00e4sslich f\u00fcr die Flora und Fauna des Mittelmeers ist. Sie waren sich aber schon ihrer N\u00fctzlichkeit als nat\u00fcrliche Ressource bewusst, so diente ihnen das Gras bereits als Dachisolierung der typischen Inselh\u00e4user sowie als nat\u00fcrlicher D\u00fcnger auf dem Feld. Zweifellos eine vielfach nutzbare Pflanzenart mit zahlreichen Funktionen.<\/p>\n<p>Das Neptungras w\u00e4chst zwar im ganzen Mittelmeer, doch rund um Ibiza und Formentera spielt diese Pflanze wahrscheinlich die Hauptrolle im Meer. Ohne sie s\u00e4he die Landschaft der Inseln nicht so aus wie sie es heute tut. Ihre Bedeutung ist so gro\u00df, dass die UNESCO das Neptungras 1999 zum Welterbe ernannte. Es war damit die erste nat\u00fcrliche Ressource im Mittelmeer, die diese Auszeichnung erhielt, was ihre Sch\u00f6nheit und Einizigartigkeit noch einmal unterstreicht. Als das Gebiet Ses Salines de Eivissa y Formentera 2001 zum Naturschutzgebiet erkl\u00e4rt wurde, war dies ein bedeutender Schritt f\u00fcr seine Erhaltung. So wurde ein mehr als 13.000 Hektar gro\u00dfes Meeresareal, in dem das Neptungras vorherrscht, mit in dieses Schutzgebiet aufgenommen. Bemerkenswert ist, dass in diesem Gebiet 2006 eines der bedeutendsten Exemplare dieser Art mit einer L\u00e4nge von 8 Kilometern und einem Alter von 100.000 Jahren entdeckt wurde.<\/p>\n<p>Abschlie\u00dfend kann man also sagen, dass das Neptungras wesentlich ist, um die Meereswelt der Pityusen zu verstehen. Es erm\u00f6glicht das Leben, das wir an den K\u00fcsten beobachten k\u00f6nnen und ohne diese Pflanze w\u00e4ren die traumhaften Str\u00e4nde und das glasklare Wasser des Mittelmeers undenkbar. enable_text_marquee=&#8220;no&#8220;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Die ph\u00f6nizische Siedlung von Sa Caleta<\/h2>\n<p>Einer der interessantesten Orte, um die Geschichte der Insel kennenzulernen, ist die ph\u00f6nizische Siedlung von Sa Caleta. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine arch\u00e4ologische Fundst\u00e4tte aus dem 8. Jahrhundert v. Chr. Sie ist deshalb so bedeutend, weil sie die erste punische Siedlung auf der Insel Ibiza ist und uns deshalb wichtige Informationen zum Leben der ersten Siedler liefert.<\/p>\n<p>Die Siedlung befindet sich im S\u00fcdwesten der Insel in der Gemeinde Sant Josep, zwischen Es Codolar und Platja des Jondal. Der Ort an sich ist eine kleine Halbinsel, der man den Namen Mola de Sa Caleta gegeben hat. Er war ideal, um das Dorf zu gr\u00fcnden, weil man von hier aus einen direkten Blick auf das Meer hat, um m\u00f6gliche Angreifer fr\u00fch entdecken zu k\u00f6nnen. Gleichzeitig befindet sich hier auch eine kleine Bucht, die windgesch\u00fctzt liegt und den Siedlern als Hafen diente.<\/p>\n<p>Die Fundst\u00e4tte ist in verschiedene Bereiche bzw. Viertel unterteilt: ein Viertel im Nordwesten, eines im Zentrum und das Hafenviertel. Heutzutage sind diese aufgrund von Erosion, die im Laufe der Jahre stattgefunden hat, nicht mehr als solche erkennbar. Nur noch im S\u00fcdviertel kann man sehen, wie die Siedlung aufgebaut war, weil nur dieser Teil erhalten blieb und hier arch\u00e4ologische Untersuchungen stattfinden konnten, die uns aufschlussreiche Daten \u00fcber die Siedler lieferten.<\/p>\n<p>Es scheint, als w\u00e4ren zu Beginn die Geb\u00e4ude in der Siedlung kreuz und quer verteilt worden. Doch als diese nach und nach wuchs, begann man, die H\u00e4user systematischer zu verteilen und gesch\u00fctzter zu bauen. Aufgrund der nebeneinanderliegenden H\u00e4user wurde der Zusammenschluss immer gr\u00f6\u00dfer und es entstanden Stra\u00dfen zwischen den Geb\u00e4uden. In einigen Ecken bildeten sich kleine Pl\u00e4tze, die f\u00fcr die Gemeinschaft gedacht waren. In der Fundst\u00e4tte gibt es H\u00e4user mit bis zu sieben Zimmern, die alle Mauern aus kleinen und mittelgro\u00dfen Steinen besa\u00dfen und mit D\u00e4chern aus Pinienholz und Ton versehen waren, der die D\u00e4cher wasserdicht machte.<\/p>\n<p>In diesem Bereich befinden sich au\u00dferdem zwei runde \u00d6fen mit einem Durchmesser von zwei Metern, die zum Schmelzen von silberhaltigem Galenit, ein in dem Gebiet vorherrschendes Metall, dienten. Man k\u00f6nnte darauf schlie\u00dfen, dass es sich hierbei um eine der Haupteinnahmequellen der Siedlung handelte. Die restlichen Funde zeigen jedoch, dass Viehzucht, Landwirtschaft, Salzgewinnung und Fischerei ebenfalls sehr wichtig waren. Dank der privilegierten Lage und der T\u00e4tigkeiten, die sich hier entwickelten, kann man sagen, dass diesem Ort eine Schl\u00fcsselposition f\u00fcr den Seehandel mit der iberischen Halbinsel zukam. Denn f\u00fcr viele H\u00e4ndler diente die Siedlung als Zwischenhalt auf ihrer \u00dcberfahrt.<\/p>\n<p>Es wird gesch\u00e4tzt, dass sich die Einwohnerzahl in ihrer Bl\u00fctezeit auf 500 belief und damit mit \u00e4hnlichen Siedlungen im S\u00fcden Spaniens vergleichbar ist. Obwohl die Stadt Zuwachs fand, handelte es sich nur um eine tempor\u00e4re Siedlung, denn laut arch\u00e4ologischen Funden wurde sie ca. 600 v. Chr. endg\u00fcltig auf friedliche Weise aufgegeben. Es w\u00e4re m\u00f6glich, dass die Einwohner in die heutige Stadt Ibiza \u00fcbersiedelten, doch Beweise gibt es daf\u00fcr nicht.<\/p>\n<p>Aufgrund seiner Geschichte ist Sa Caleta ein einzigartiger Ort in der Gemeinde Sant Josep. Hier kann man die ersten Schritte der Inselsiedler nachvollziehen. Sie haben eine Schl\u00fcsselfunktion im kulturellen Mosaik, das die Geschichte Ibizas und des Mittelmeers pr\u00e4gt. Dies begr\u00fcndet auch, warum es neben weiteren wichtigen Fundst\u00e4tten 1999 zum Welterbe ernennt wurde.
