South of the beach of Cala d’Hort, one of the most beautiful ones of Ibiza’s west coast, with Es Vedrà right in front, is where the highest cliff in Ibiza is located, with a height of 414 meters. This place is known as Cap des Jueus, and here is also located the defense tower of Torre des Savinar, also known as Torre del Pirata (in Enlglish, the pirate tower), because this promontory had perfect views for controlling potential pirate raids of yesteryear.
Accessing this point is no easy task and is required to be physically fit as you need to go up a steep slope through rocks and bushes in order to reach the top of the cliff. Of course, this effort is well rewarded as you will be able to contemplate the stunning panoramic views of the islands of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell from a higher point than usual.
In order to reach this spectacular place from Sant Josep, you must head towards Cala d’Hort. For this, take the first paved road detour to the left after leaving the village of Sant Josep in direction to Sant Antoni. This diversion is marked with a sign directing to Cala d’Hort. Then, just follow the road up until the next roundabout, where you will only have to keep following the signs to Cala d’Hort. Then, before descending the slope which leads to the beach, at the last crossroad you need to make a left towards the village of Es Cubells. Right after you will see a dirt road on the right side that starts in the middle of a curve of the road you’re on. Take this dirt road and follow it until you reach a barrier which prevents you from continuing with a vehicle.
At this point, follow the path by foot until you reach a large esplanade overlooking Es Vedrà. On the left you will see sa Torre des Savinar on the top of the cliff. To access it you have to go up the steep slope leading to it by the small paths that go up the hill, and you’ll get to es Cap des Jueus.
